Programme: May 25th

Small opportunities are
often the beginning of great enterprises. First comes thought;
then organization of that thought, into ideas and plans; then transformation of
those plans into reality. The beginning, as one observes , is in one’s
imagination….. The beginning is always
today.
The
Induction programme for Teachers was conducted in the last week of May 2011. The new Faculty were accorded a
warm welcome by the Principal, Dr. C. G. Geetha. Teachers were briefed about
the general rules and regulations of the School. The Academic schedule and the
time-tables were distributed among the teachers. The Teachers of Grades IX-XII
were briefed about the Specifications CD of Edexcel. The text books were also
distributed by the Librarian. The Year plans and the Scheme of work for each
Grade were prepared by the teachers for the Academic year 2011- 2012. The
importance of the usage of Teaching Aids and the multi-media room were
stressed.
Reopening Day : June 1st, 2011
The direction in which
education starts a man will determine his future life. The very spring and root of honesty and virtue lie in good
education. The great aim of
education is not knowledge but action.
A
formal function marked the reopening day
with the Management and the Principal taking an active part in it to
welcome the old as well as the new students. The Principal addressed the
gathering and introduced the members of the Teaching as well as Non-Teaching Staff.
The Honourable Chairman of the School Mr.
Johnson C. Lukose welcomed the parents,
students and staff to the Dawn family. The Students were accompanied to their respective classes by their Class
Teachers who briefed them about their
code of conduct and the guidelines of
the school.
Freshers day:
June 17th, 2011
Whatever you are by nature, keep to it; never desert your line
of talent. Be what nature intended you for and you will succeed. True happiness involves the full use of one\'s power and
talents.
The
new students who joined the Dawn family
in the academic year 2011-12 were encouraged to exhibit their talents by performing in front of the School.
Extempore speeches, songs, cinematic dances were some of the programmes
presented by the students. Haritha K. of
grade XII presented a cinematic dance. George Shibu Pynadath & John Shibu
Pynadath moved to the beats of a popular
Michael Jackson number.
Teachers
who joined in the Academic Year 2011-2012
were also invited to perform on
stage.
Ms.
Aswathy Raveendran & Ms. Mary Reshmi
presented a cinematic dance.
Ms. Asha V. Menon played a
popular tune on the violin. Some of the teachers
sang [solo and group] songs.
The
CEO Mr. Jim Laughlin and the
Principal Dr. C. G. Geetha graced the occasion with their presence.
Club Inauguration : June 24th, 2011
“Literature
is the orchestration of platitudes.”
“One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.”
The
Nature Clubs [Junior & Senior] and the Literary Clubs [Junior &
Senior]were formally inaugurated.
The
Literary Clubs presented skits, speeches, poetry recitation & story –telling. The Nature Clubs presented short Skits on the
importance of going “Green” & global
warming.
The
Teachers in-charge of the Clubs coordinated the activities.
Investiture ceremony:
June 30th, 2011
Men make history, and
not the other way around. In periods where there is no leadership, society
stands still. Progress occurs when courageous, skillful leaders seize the
opportunity to change things for the better.
The ‘Meet the Candidate’ assembly culminated in the elections to the Student
Council and the Investiture Ceremony for the newly elected Student Council
members to take charge formally. The
Student Council leaders of the previous year formally handed over charge to the
new Council members. The Oath-taking
Ceremony followed this. The CEO Mr. Jim Laughlin administered the
Oath of Office to the new office bearers. He asked them to strive to be good role
models.
The
Principal addressed the office bearers and wished them the very best in all
their endeavours.
The
new office bearers presented a song “I am a great big bundle” after they were sworn in which was
chosen to be incorporated as a part of every Investiture Ceremony.

Seminars & Workshops: [Grades IX-XII]
Knowledge is the only instrument of production that is not
subject to diminishing returns. You can do anything you
think you can. This knowledge is literally the gift of the gods, for through it
you can solve every human problem. It should make of you an incurable optimist.

‘I am Genius’ July
2nd, 2011
The
month of July, 2011 saw the commencement of the Lecture Series for grades
IX-XII ‘I am Genius’ by Mr. Alphonso
Francis a trained Psychoanalyst, who incidentally, is the parent of Sneha Alphonso Francis of
Grade II.
He
encouraged the students to shed all their
inhibitions to achieve the best. He also asked them to think positively
and believe that they are geniuses.
Edexcel
July 2nd, 2011
Ms. Anu Singh, a resource person from
Edexcel, presented an interactive session which was organized for the students
and teaching faculty of Grades IX-XII. Ms. Singh very patiently briefed the
students and the staff about Edexcel and answered all their queries. The session proved to be a very useful one
and she stressed on the importance of going through the Specifications [Edexcel]
for all the subjects.
Law School Education
July 28th, 2011
A
Career guidance session by Career Launcher-LST , was organized for the students
of Grades IX-XII where they were briefed about careers beyond Courtrooms. CLAT,
NLU D, SET, CETIP & NLU O were some of the examinations that were talked about
for admission into the most prestigious law universities in the country.
Singapore Institute of Management
August 8th, 2011
A
resource person from Singapore Institute of Management [SIM Group] briefed the students
about the under graduate programmes offered to international students by SIM. Diploma in Management Studies, Bachelor of Business, B.Sc. [Hons]
Accounting & Finance are few of the Programmes she discussed in detail with
the students. She also explained the Twinning
programmes of SIM.
Varma Cricket Club
August 10th, 2011
The
Boys from Grades III-XII attended an introductory session by Varma Cricket Club
on Cricket coaching which would help them develop the fundamentals of
batting,bowling and fielding skills.The details of the camp were circulated
among the students to encourage active participation.
Eye Camp August
10th, 2011
The
Staff and the students of the School attended the day-long eye camp organized
by the School and tested their eyes
professionally.
Dawn Fest
July-August 2011
Good Coaches teach respect for the opposition, love of
competition, the value of trying your best, and how to win and lose graciously.
The
month long competitions of the Dawn Fest finally came to an end on August 5th , 6th & 8th
2011.
Dawn
Fest was a platform for all the students to showcase their talents. The final
rounds of the literary competitions and the cultural competitions were conducted and the prizes were distributed to the
winners. Students from LKG-XII
participated actively and made it a grand success.
The
formal ceremony began with the ceremonious
lighting of the lamp by the
P.R.O. Mr. Lee Tamplain, the Dawn Fest-Coordinator, Ms. Navya Anna
Thomas, the House Mistresses of Passionate Planets & Majestic Moons, Ms.
Sujitha V. Kini & Ms. Sruthy Meenakshy and Ms. Anna Susan Thomas the School
Captain.
This
was followed by the various competitions scheduled for the three days.
Independence Day: August 12th, 2011
The greatest challenge now is to find a way to keep
independence while also committing ourselves to the ties that bind people, families, and ultimately societies together.
The
Independence day was celebrated on August ,12th .Speeches ,singing
of patriotic songs and an Independence day quiz marked the celebrations.
First Terminal Examination

Countdown has started for the First Terminal Examinations for Grades VI-XII.

Onam
Celebrations&Vacation
The
Onam celebrations are scheduled for September 2nd, 2011 which will
be followed by the Onam Vacation.
