Here\'s a rundown of all our Second Term activities.
Our Second Term began when the
school reopened after the Onam holidays on 12th September 2011.
Students seemed to be more energetic and enthusiastic after the ten days of fun
and enjoyment. The First Term answer scripts were sent home and brought back
signed by the parents.
The teacher is the pivot of an
educational system. He/she moulds the personality of emerging generations,
shapes the society and builds the nation. September 14th, the
birthday of our former president, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, is celebrated as “Teachers’
Day” throughout the country. We, the Dawn family, also celebrated the day with
a wide range of programmes. The day’s celebrations started with the assembly.
Our Principal, Dr. C. Geetha, took on the role of the school captain to lead
the assembly and the other teachers participated in place of the students. Thus
the teachers got a chance to go back to the golden days of their school life.
The student teachers of grade X to XII handled the classes for the day in the
role of the teachers. Their performance was judged by a panel of teachers. Ms. Steffy Joy Pulinthara of grade XI was
chosen as “The Best Student – Teacher”. The various games organized by the
coordinator, Mrs. Mary Reshmi,
enlivened the occasion. The teaching staff took part actively in all the games.
The coordinator took special attention to advise the student teachers who put
their maximum efforts to prove their teaching efficiency. The entire function
concluded with the distribution of prizes to the students as an acknowledgement
of their sincere efforts.
National Cyber Olympiad was
conducted at the school on 15th September, 2011. The first of its kind in the country, the
National Cyber Olympiad is now a global search competition that aims at
identifying and nurturing cyber talent amongst the youngsters. It is as much
about inspiring the younger generation to enhance their knowledge and
comprehension of issues related to computers and IT as about testing their
aptitude in these streams. It is an
international level competition focusing on Mental Ability, Logical &
Analytical Reasoning in computers and IT.
Dawn International School
witnessed the release of its newsletter, Sparkling Ray – Volume 11, on the 16th
September 2011. The members of the literature club were in charge of conducting
the function. Miss Anna Susan Thomas was the mistress of the ceremony. She
expressed her gratitude to all the people involved in producing the Sparkling
Ray, in particular, the Principal for her constant support and encouragement.
The teachers involved were also thanked for their valuable support and
guidance.
Education of a child is the joint
responsibility of school and home. Open House at Dawn is a platform for
discussing the academic needs and problems of the child by his parents and
teachers and to take joint action for his fullest academic and personal development.
On 17th September an Open House was held for all the grades (from the
KG section to grade XII). Parents and
guardians took this opportunity to put forward their opinions and suggestions
on the curricular and co-curricular activities. They collected their ward’s
achievement records and held discussions with the class teachers and subject
teachers.
The day of the Open House was
more remarkable because Dawn
International School
presented its 6th Arts and Science Exhibition. The students proved that they
are blessed with a myriad of creative skills. The students’ amazing talents
were manifested in the charts, experiments and working models which they
prepared based on science and other subjects.
Some of the art work created by the students was truly astonishing.
Language is a skill, proficiency
in which is acquired mostly through practice. External examinations were

the people of India as the “Father of the Nation.” Since it was a holiday on October 2nd,

birthday by playing his favourite song “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram” on the violin.
Students made sure that all the sacrifices made by the great man were fondly
remembered the whole day.

Tournament on 7th October 2011.
Excellent sportsman spirit was exhibited by the members of both

served by the contestants.
